Purpose of the Local Public Service Board

  1. The Local Public Service Board will ensure delivery of key decisions of the Luton Forum and accountability to the Forum for its effective operation.
  2. Within the wider framework of the Sustainable Community Strategy the Local Public Service Board to draw up, negotiate with Government and the Forum, and then deliver a set of localised targets linked to national and local priorities through Luton' Local Area Agreement.
  3. The Local Public Service Board will bring together the key public sector decision-makers in Luton to deliver improved public services.
  4. The Local Public Service Board will influence public expenduture in Luton and manage delegated/devolved budget streams through shared priorities and more effective service procurement.
  5. The Local Public Service Board will deliver, openly and transparently, the agreed goals and priorities for Luton set by the Forum, which identifies and articulates the needs and aspirations of local people, by reconciling competing interests and steering collective partnership capacity.
  6. The Local Public Service Board will act as an agent for the transformational change to deliver inclusive, equitable and effective public services across Luton.

The LPSB also oversees a number of sub-groups established to provide support and advice to the Forum on particular matters including :

  • Equalities, Inclusion and Cohesion Group
  • Performance Management Sub Group
  • Task & Finish Groups
